Cottage Insurance

Postby lynnsmit on Tue Jun 29, 2010 10:15 am

Hi All!
Wondering if you can help - I'm having problems finding a company who will offer insurance on my cabin, located just up from the lake. (I imagine the problem is - it's a log cabin, with NO plumbing, heated by woodstove & fireplace) The insurance companies are probably viewing that as too high a fire risk with no on-site water source....
Can anyone suggest an insurance company that might be willing to offer us coverage?
Thanks!!!!

This is a perpetual problem many people experience.
No doubt fostered by the unusual number of houses/businesses burning down, especially when they are losing money.

Most folks have found, the easiest thing, which is not to say its easy, just less hard.
Is to put all your insurance with the company that will insure your cabin. Yes you might pay an extra $50 on the car insurance, but at least you get them all insured.

Also telling them to set a high deductible, lets them know you won't be filing claims every year.
Let us know what happens........... 8-)
